Hey, atm I am camping on some wi fi of Riga/Latvia airport.
I got next flight in 4 hours. Which is
Riga/Latvia -> Kiyev/Ukraine which is 1-2 hrs long.
I just landed in Riga airport, plane was Boeing 737-500 ( I think, it was 737 for sure)
And few min before landing really loud bang came from left turbine, and it kinda became quiet. I thought oh here we go, film scenario, plane started to landing but I think speed for landing was a bit too fast. When plane touched ground bounce off the wheels touching ground was quite hard and plane was rolling fast, never actually experienced such a strong braking force of plane. Literally had to hold. When plane stopped I saw few servicing guys running around left wing, then when we got out, there was no rain for sure, but turbine was all wet. So what was it? Could be just be my imagination? (and actually some baggade fell, and pilots knew what they were doing by landing so strong.Or really something was going on?
Likely an engine fire, or just a bird flying into the turbine.

Didn't hear anyone talking about turbine on fire. Or can it be fire inside and produce no smoke?
not really
This is slightly related, but when my friend flew to Latvia (his home country), he got stuck flying in circles through a pitch black thunderstorm for 3 hours before landing since it was too dangerous. Then something similar happened to him.
