There's no real point to play L4D1 now that L4D2 pretty much has everything in L4D1.

The only problem with that is it's 20 dollars and a lot more then DLC now.

Left 4 dead 2 also has better mod support. Even then, L4D2's graphics look better, but still the general atmosphere is way more attractive when ran in L4D1 in my opinion.

L4D1's atmosphere is so much better.
Better FOV, better animations, night time, you can see your legs etc

If I remember correctly weapons can not disappear and can be re-picked no matter how many survivors took it

They can exist with an infinite amount, yes, but that's mostly only being the case with weapons which are placed obviously (like in the spawnrooms).

I like the blocking feature because there's often a player in the group who's rushing ahead and getting killed.

Hint: now might be an excellent time to play the game again if you haven't. Because on Monday the Christmas Sale begins and again you will be given some achievements to take part in something (like the treasure hunt) (source: [url]http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2272641[/url]). So better get that "Pick up three christmas presents in Versus mode"-achievement.
