Not surprised. I don't have to pay on top a Netflix fee to use it on a PS3.
what's the difference between red and pink bars. Because going by the pink ones show PS3 users play games 54% of the time.
Oh, the image is cropped a bit from the original Nielsen image so never mind (pink is 2011, red is 2012).

The bloody idiots cropped the legend for the chart.

red is 2012 pink is 2011
That's funny. My 360 has been mostly playing music for the last 2ish weeks.
Why would I pay for Xbox live gold on top just so I can use my Netflix which I'm already paying for, when my Wii or PS3 can do it straight out the box.
So of course people are gonna use their PS3's in the long term for media more than an xbox. Shit gets expensive otherwise.

That's funny. My ps3 have been mostly playing with the dust ever since I got it.
Funny, I only use my PS3 for Gran Turismo 5
I suspect Sony and Microsoft want this to be the other way around for the PS4/720.

Microsoft said they wanted the next xbox to me media/entertainment centred.

Good luck with that if they're going to keep making people get Gold to access shit like Netflix which already has its own sub fee.

all my consoles play with dust now
Funny, I watch DVDs on my Wii cause I'm boss.
But no really I'm surprised this even made the news on any website. It was already common knowledge that the PS3 is a media hub while the Xbox is more a gamer console.
They should focus more on gaming than social applications and nonsense that nobody wants. I don't think that a lot of people use a console as a media hub, a laptop or pc is a lot easier to use that way and far more flexible. I seldom use my xbox to watch movies or play music, it's only purpose is to play games.
All those applications are to slow and cumbersome to use, like the new internet explorer.
It's funny: Microsoft, at every conference EVER, always spend half of it showing off the media side of things, almost to the detriment of games. While the PS3 has been mostly more for games.
What the hell? The PS3 is the one with the actual games people want to play. The Xbox has nothing but multiplatform games, Halo and uh.... Gears of War.
The Playstation 3 has Heavy Rain, the new game being made by the Heaven Rain guys, Uncharted 1/2/3, The Last of Us, God of War 3, God of War Ascension, LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, InFAMOUS, InFAMOUS 2, Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Resistance 1/2/3, MAG, Metal Gear Solid 4, Twisted Metal, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Playstation Battle Royale, Demon's Souls. Did I miss any?
I'm forgetting all the shitty launch games and the Kinect crapware.
I use my PS3 for a lot of media streaming. It's nice to not have to pay some bullshit LIVE fee just to use the Netflix account that I also pay a fee for. Plus, I stream a lot of stuff from my PC's external hard drives.
I just hate the Cinavia DRM bullshit that Sony baked into it, sometimes it fucks with my attempts to play my own ripped videos. Sooner or later I'll just build a proper HTPC that isn't full of DRM shit that was imposed on it by a manufacturer.

Not to mention strict region locking on most things on there. I can't even download internet explorer on the 360 because it's not in my region.

actually the games people want to play are mutliplatform like CoD. And since the 360 is cheaper than the PS3 and always has been, go figure
I primary reserve watching movie on my laptop or on the computer nowadays. The XBOX 360 is purely for gaming purposes and nothing else.
Meh, what use is the PS3 for media?
I get the feeling it's only useful for that in the US, where every movie service isn't blocked.
