Keeping a good resolution when transferring a video from camera to computer

I have just recorded some clips for some friends of mine, I would like to know how to keep a good resolution when transferring it to a computer. It's a very old camera, so i want to get the best resolution possible for the final clips, is there any software that could keep the native resolution and make it as un-pixellated as possible?

No that's the best resolution when you transfer it. It's a shitty camera/shitty camera settings. It probably looks great on the tiny camera screen but not on anything with some resolution behind it.

Whilst i've still got this thread, does anyone know how to properly transfer a video from a Sony SteadyShot camera onto my computer, I connect it via the USB wire, but nothing happens??
