Hi guys!
As I am building my own PC for gaming (for the first time), I would like you to comment on which of the following GPU's you would recommend, and why:
Gainward GeForce GTX580 "phantom" (1,5 GB)
or
Asus Geforce GTX580 DirectCU II (1,5 GB)
I am planning on getting the following motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe B3 Revision.
Share your experience and knowledge. thanks
They are both basically the same but since I've never heard of 'Gainward' I'd get the Asus unless its really expensive compared to the gainward, Also why a p67?
Get the ASUS if you can, the DCII is an amazing cooler. Be aware that it's a triple slot card though.

Why not the p67? Any other recommendations?
You can see the build I am planning to get here (has a few changes though etc. the psu) http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1146330

Price fluctuations have made it so that Z68 boards are once again more expensive than P67 ones in many cases. If you won't use the internal graphics or the SSD caching then you might want to save a bit by not getting Z68.

As I am still quite new to the build-your-own-pc and therefore the knowledge of the whole motherboard segment, can you then tell me, where I can see, how many slots the MB im planning on getting has, and what 3 slots compared to 2 slots means?
Its not about the pci-e slots on the motherboard, rather the case. It can cause problems if the pci-e slots are located too close to eachother, but i believe that a motherboard such as an ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 is spaced enough to hold two 3slot cards.

Do you know how or where I can see, which motherboards that are supporting a GPU like Asus Geforce GTX580 DirectCU II (1,5 GB) (3 slots), beside the one you wrote? Etc. how can I see, if the MB I am planning on getting does fit the 3 slot, where the slots are not too close together, which you say will be a problem?
It'll work fine on that motherboard, but you'll lose the PCI-E x1 slot and the PCI slot below the top PCI-E slot. I'd like to mention that the P8P67 is overpriced and the ASRock P67 Extreme3 gives you more for your money.

Prepare to support the card with cable ties between it and a nearby drive bay - the DCII design is flawed in that the cooler is so heavy the card bends slightly and it pulls away from the gpu itself.
It is amazing when it actually makes proper contact with the chip though
be warned, OP.
the p67 series is notorious for double POST boots

What? P67 series.....what? P67 is a chipset buddy, if there were some sort of widespread P67 double post issue Intel would have recalled them. Hell they already recalled them once because of an extremely rare sata issue, I highly doubt they would just ignore an issue like that if it were spread across every P67 board on the market.

Oh you mean Asus' P67 motherboards. That's not exactly the same thing as just P67 series motherboards.
yeah, my bad. a little vague on my end
the p8p67 series mobos have bad double POST boots and are annoying as fuck
also consider the fact that if you EVER get the LE version because it's cheaper, don't bother trying to get SLI. it's not happening.

Wow. I'm reading a bunch of threads and posts on the issue and this is just retarded. ASUS should feel very bad for screwing all these people.
So, which MB would you recommend me to get at the price range of the one i just listed (where i live its about $250), with the ASUS geforce gtx 580 directCU II 1,5gb gpu? (1155 socket), and the i5 2500k cpu.
