I'm glad I didn't buy the HD collection now, since I'm still in the process of playing MGS 1
Neat! I've never gotten around to playing a Metal Gear game, so as long as this is reasonably priced I'll grab it.

I was in the same boat up until this moment. Was just about to pick up the HD collection and Rising. Now I can just wait a few months and get MGS1 and the older Metal Gears I never played
Does it have the metal gears from nintendo?!
Totally regretting not buying a PS3 right now.
Might pick this up, problem is I don't have a PS3, just my little brother. I'd have to play these when
1) I'm home
2) He's not around
Next really gotten into these before though
I kinda wish that I had a ps3 now, although I have access to a version of every one of those game except from MGS4.
Fuck.
I own MGS4 and the HD collection.
Literally the only motivation to buy this is just to get Metal Gear Solid 1, Not sure if worth it.

You can buy MGS1 on the PSN.

This is really quite annoying for me, I really wanted to play MGS4 since it was released, but I own a 360 and I am not going to buy a console just to play one game on and I already own the HD Collection and MGS1 for the PS1 and 2 and 3 for the PS2, still though I'm not fully aware of which games are available on PS3 that are not on Xbox and its especially nice to have some of the old PS2 games available to download but it would still really only be for MGS4... I really don't know, a PC or Xbox release would be greatly appreciated.
HD ports of the graphic novels will be sweet. The MGS1 Digital Graphic Novel had some great art in it.

Blame Sony.
How much is it going to cost though?
Blame Sony.
I blame both parties.
well then, I'm off to find a used ps3

Kojima signed away those entries to be PS3 exclusive
do you really think microsoft didn't want any of that money?

By both parties I mean Konami and Sony, not Sony and Microsoft, and yes, of course they would like that money, I would happily give some of it to them.
That's a lot of games.

Metal Gear 1 and 2 are in HD, in the MGS3 menu
So basically it's MGS HD Collection + MGS1 and MGS4, as well the digital novel. Except for the fact that PS3 players who play MGS games likely already have MGS4, and could easily purchase MGS1 on the PSN. And yet on the 360 for some reason we got the HD collection, but have no way of playing MGS1 or MGS4. Both are relatively understandable, since MGS1 already had a perfectly fine PC port and MGS4 is a bit big for a 360 game (I think). Still though it would have been nice to see this on the 360 somehow, especially if MGS5 is also going to be released on Xbox.

Not only is MGS4 too big to fit on one DVD disc ( it would probably have to be on like 4) the game was also specifically designed for the PS3's cell processor, meaning that a port for Xbox would be a lot harder than normal cross platform games and would probably cost them quite a bit of money to do so it's probably not worth it for them.
I still kinda wish they would because I don't see myself buying a PS3, but if I end up getting a PS4 I'll definitely get it on their streaming service.
Glad I held off buying MGS4
What a collection, I hope to christ they don't funk up like the SH collection.
That's a lot of games.
That's a lotta cutscenes.

Of course though, 5 out of the 8 games were already on the HD collection, and they've listed the MGS1 VR missions as a whole 'game' on its own, so not only is it more like 7 games, it's at best only slightly more convenient.
Not even sure how the comment "We wanted to give Metal Gear Solid fans the opportunity to experience the series from beginning to end, all on one console" makes any sense given that these were already all available on the PS3, and this new legacy collection is only available on the PS3.
I guess i'll have to get this instead of the HD collection now.
This is good, isn't it?
I knew that glorified blu-ray player I got would be good for something else.
Oh fucking yes
I've wanted to play MGS for a long time now -- this is perfect!
god fucking dammit I just bought the HD collection too :suicide:
