King - from what I understand - survive primarily off of cloned/generic games with micro-transactions and sequels with minimum changes, so it was only a matter of time before the scheme fell short of the goal.

This is the company that tried to trademark use of "saga" and "candy". They caused all sorts of trouble for "the banner saga" team along with quite a few others.
Most the games are ripoffs from other titles anyway.

It's justified when the game is a generic clone and the company behind it is a symbol of what's wrong in gaming today. As the poster above stated, they tried to trademark saga and candy, causing legal issues for smaller, independant companies.
It's funny how people try to dismiss any critique by stating "lel its a vidya gaem!"
