tl;dr
Does a GTX 670 have the same "driver has stopped responding and has recovered error crash" as a 285?
I play games in a 1920 X 1200 Resolution
So my current setup is 2 Nvidia GTX 285's water cooled in SLI. The CPU is included in the same water cooled system loop as the 285's.
I suffer from the "driver has stopped responding and successfully recovered" error.
Now awhile back there was an update that borderline fixed this. The driver would still crash but when it "recovered" TF2 would reload all its resources and would recover from it's black screen (no need to restart TF2)
However this has been broken again and when the driver crashes and "recovers" I don't get any video, just sound. I can hear whats going on but I can't see anything.
The only way for me to fix this is to press ~ and type Quit in console and relaunch, only to have it happen again anywhere form 15 minutes, or on the other hand it could be fine for the rest of the day.
"Extremely unpredictable."
It also happens in Fallout New Vegas
So I downgraded to DX 8.1 because it doesn't happen at much, and for a while I was using Chris max frames fps config. However now that DX 8.1 crashes the game more than in DX 9 I switched back to 9
I have did my research and I think that I am going for the GTX 670.
I want a card that will last me at least as long as my 285's have (I have used these cards for almost 4 years.)
There great cards, I purchased them in 2009 and I planned I would continue to use them until about 2014 but the crashing has become unbearable
Since my current setup isn't designed for air cooling my only choice is to get them water cooled.
So I'm thinking about getting 2 670's ((water cooled)) and put them in SLI the only thing stopping me is if these have the same driver problem as the 285.
If they don't, then I think that is what I'm going to get, unless someone recommends a better card for price/future proof.

I'm leaning towards the evga normal 2GB one. NOT the TFW edition just normal. Since I can't seem to find just plain Nvidia brand
2 of them in SLI and water cooled
Also.. Does anyone know where to buy cards that already have water blocks on them?
