I have had this problem for a while now, but just decided now to ask for help :3 . Ok so the problem is I have a broken desktop. for some odd reason i cannot interact with my desktop at all that means:
1. no icons
2. no drawing boxes to select programs

can someone help? Oh and i dont want to create a new user, that would be like a last ditch effort
Right click on desktop>View>Show desktop icons.
Happened to my dad other day when the cat sat on his laptop keyboard, you might've just accidentally disabled that.

Yes this is your problem, I just tried it myself and found I can't interact with the desktop.
