Honestly I don't even need to read why they're doing it, anyone that sues Activision for something is doing something right.

At first it sounded like them being a bit weird about it being in a game, but this was a thing apparently.

A little late to the party aren't they?
Weird since its in pretty much every modern war game or movie. Is this the first case of something like this happening with military vehicles? Could KMDB sue every developer who has used a Russian tank in their games?
I know its quite common with production cars.

I don't like Activision but surely this is kind of a terrible reason to support this kind of lawsuit
It sets kind of a shitty precedent
same thing happened to Squad

Military vehicles have to be licensed to use, just like any other commercial vehicle. Videogames are so inconsequential that they're generally not worth going after most of the time.

This reminds me of an old game called airforce delta strike, the opening crawl for the game had the licensing info from every plane manufacturer in the game from Northrop to Boeing.
Silly as it might seem weapons and vehicles are still subject to copyright and trademark even if they are used in war. Its why GTA went the generic route with theirs

Ace Combat also has this in front of every game.
