On my gaming rig its completely stopped working, I can't start it up as it just sticks at starting windows.
Ive googled and searched forums but all the "solutions" ive seen don't work. I did get a few virus warnings the other night from Avira which it apparently removed, which I feel might be linked to this as the Windows Answers page (which is a joke) says it was because of corrupt registry or a missing system file.
Any help?
That does sound like Avira found a false positive and messed up windows.
You might have to use the Windows Disk to do some repair install or something like that.
If a repair disk doesn't solve the problem (it should), then you'll have to reinstall windows.
Make sure to use the repair disk several times, i've known it to detect several useless things to repair and restart before actually getting to repairing the filesystem.
