I'm looking for a new rig, and stumbled upon the CM 690 and the CM 690 II Advanced. Can anyone tell me the great difference? And I've heard the HD5970 won't fit in it, 1 or 2 mm to few space. Is this true? and if so will other cards fit (Like GTX480)
The maximum length your GPU in a CM 690 II can be is 11.96 in. So the 5970 (12.16 in) won't fit, but a GTX 295 (10.5 in) will and so will a GTX 480 (10.5 in). Couldn't find a good measurement for the CM 690.
Get the advanced. Im getting it too! it has a black interior, a dead handy hot swap bay at the top of the case, can support up to nine fans (i think). Also the last four hard drive bays can be removed to fit a wc radiator, though you can mount it at the top if you wanted to.
I would just get one of the new Rosewill cases, it'll save you some cash.
If a GTX480 fits in a CM690, I'll stick with that, trying to keep it simple. Also, is 750 Watt sufficient for a GPU like mine?
yes
This is how much space the 690 has for a gpu.
That's the regular CM690 right? If so, 480 is 266.7mm long so I will have space left. So going with the regular CM690 won't cause any trouble with the gpu?
No and neither will the CM 690 II.
