• Call of Duty 4 Singleplayer won't start?

Ok If you don't remember I made a thread awhile back about how Call of Duty 4 wouldn't start and I would get an error about alpha shaders or something like that. Anyway problem solved I got a brand new computer. I installed the game and tried to play single player. I got the splash screen for not even half a second and it disappeared. I tried again. Same thing happened. So I tried to play multiplayer. That worked fine. No lag or anything. So I try and switch from MP to SP and that didn't work either. I even tried renaming my mssmp3.asi to a .bak. That didn't work either. So there are no problems hardware wise and I'm really at a loss here. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps :3:
Are you running game from a shortcut? Try directly using the exe
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common Look for the file called ''iw4sp.exe'' and run the game, maybe that will work.
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common Look for the file called ''iw4sp.exe'' and run the game, maybe that will work.
I didn't buy it from steam. It's a retail copy.
Could still work trying it from the exe, I can't remember the retail path, but the exe should still be the same
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common Look for the file called ''iw4sp.exe'' and run the game, maybe that will work.
I don't have an iw4sp.exe. I have an iw3sp.exe and an iw3mp.exe
Use iw3sp.exe
One is obviously single player and the other multilayer iw3sp.exe
One is obviously single player and the other multilayer iw3sp.exe
I know. I tried it and it still didn't work. Maybe I need to patch it??
Yeah try patching
Yeah try patching
Ok. Should I try the latest patch or all of them? The latest one says it fixes some bugs in MP but nothing about SP.
The latest patch will include all the fixes from the previous patches, so get the latest one
The latest patch will include all the fixes from the previous patches, so get the latest one
I don't think that's the case. It's telling me to install 1.6 before I can install the latest 1.7. Meh...It's 283 mbs :|
Ah, uh, does it tell you to install 1.5 if you try 1.6? You'll have to work from start I guess if it's like that
Ah, uh, does it tell you to install 1.5 if you try 1.6? You'll have to work from start I guess if it's like that
Don't know yet. Downloading 1.6. Ugh... Taking so long. Internet has been shit today :v: Ok...I installed 1.6 and then 1.7. It still wont let me play SP :\ [editline]06:57PM[/editline] Bump
Maybe you've got a shitty firewall or virusscanner. Disable both of them, close any background applications such was live messenger or itunes and try again.
People who don't know where a normal/retail program path is in... It will always be in C:\Program Files by default unless you changed it Look for C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare That's for retail versions Try reinstalling the game. Also, it might be your new computer. Just what kind of "new" computer is it? (post specs)
