• Rigging an old television so I can use headphones as audio
    7 replies, posted
I have this old magnavox CRT (i think, it's the kind that sticks out in the back) and i want to be able to use it to play my ps3/ps2/xbox 360 with headphones instead of using the built in speakers. I don't know the model or whatever and don't think there's a way to find out. it's old though, bought in the 90's and isn't shaped like modern crt televisions, it's rounded instead of boxy so it's kinda old. it's got 6 plugs in the back, two audio ones, three one video the other two audio and the screw in plug you connect cable boxes to. really that's all i can think of, if any other specifications come to mind ask because i can't think of any other things to mention.
Something like this? Plug the audio into it and your good to go. [url]http://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Splitter-3-5mm-Audio-Adapter/dp/B0009JFF7A[/url]
wow it's so simple, instead of plugging into the tv just bypass that and plug the audio from the console into the headphones. many thanks, most gracious. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline] can i find such an item easily at retail stores such as fry's electronics or best buy?
Worth a shot, I know they come with turtle beach headphone, but thats the only place ive seen them.

They are probably cheapest at a home depot or something like that. If you buy them at an "electronics" store, you'll pay twice as much.

[editline]4th October 2011[/editline] Well depends on the electronics store i guess. We have electronics stores who are trying to sell 100$ monster HDMI cables to idiots. So your 1's and 0's become more crisp!
Although it might not be very loud, and the only way to set the volume would be in the game's settings.
