So recently I've noticed my core temperatures have become ridiculously high when my computer is sitting idle. When I'm playing a game though it tends to tip onto 90*C which is stupidly hot.

I opened up my pc a few days ago and there isn't really that much dust around the inside apart from in the CPU's fan which I cleaned out a little bit, I tried to take off the heatsink with the fan but the thermal paste is holding on strong still :( Any ideas on how to keep the temp down? Any ideas are much appreciated <3
You should reapply the thermal paste. you either have to much or to little, and what heatsink do you have? Stock or aftermarket?
90c is WAY to hot for a cpu
Here's a tip for getting the heatsink off easier
If you take it out within a few minutes of shutting down the PC, the thermal paste bond will break easier because of the heat.

And yeah, i'd change the thermal paste if there is no dust.
If it just started happening, it could be bad mounting pressure. I also remember seeing some BIOS's have a bug with core temps. also check your voltages
I think it's that there is loads of dust in the heatsink and fan which is stock by the way. I'm gonna try and get it off after shutting down my pc and see if my I can put the heatsink from my old pc, it's like a coolermaster something or other but I didn't switch it over because it wasn't getting too hot but now it's really becoming trouble. Thank you for the help.
Take it off, check it it out, reapply some TIM.
Are you on a stock cooler?
