For Easter my mom's getting me a video game, which should I get?
I leaning a bit more to Portal2, mainly because of Steam on PS3 and if I get it for PS3 I get it free for PC. Though Crysis 2 looks fun.
I would go for Portal 2

Crysis 2 is good but it's not $60 good
Portal 2.
I had to consider a similar situation despite being able to "afford" both (put that in quotation marks because spending any money on anything right now is pretty difficult, but that's another story). After playing the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo for just a few hours, I knew I was in love with that aspect of the game. I know that a lot of people are complaining about the DX11/graphic settings/etc. issues, but Crytek is probably going to change those things eventually, and I enjoy playing the game just as it is. However, I have yet to play any kind of demo of Portal 2 and just based on the trailers that Valve has released so far I know it's going to be an amazing experience and have relatively high expectations for its replay value.
They're two completely different kinds of games, and since money isn't the issue for you (well, it is for your mom but it's a gift for you) I would go based off your experience with the C2 demo if you've played it and your derived interest for P2 based on the information and gameplay/trailer footage we've seen so far.
Depends on your tastes really.
I myself would go Portal 2.
Consider how long you will play each game. If Portal 2 is anything like Portal 1 but only longer, Crysis 2 will beat it by replay value in singleplayer and also having your average shooter multiplayer. In Portal 2, you will probably play the campaign and co-op with a friend once or twice, then maybe come back for achievements and be done with it. Crysis 2 is awesome and Portal 2 will no doubt be awesome as well. Just ask yourself this, will you be playing it in the weeks to come?
unless time's an issue, wait until portal comes out, just in the minor case it's a flop.
Or be nice to your mom, and get portal 2 it's cheaper, so if you don't like it, you saved your mom some money.
Well would you rather eat a large delicious fresh pizza or dirt? Its your choice.

Not to say crysis 2 is a shit game, but its nothing in comparison to Portal 2...
Portal 2 is going to be one of the best games of 2011. :colbert:
So, buy portal 2.
Well lets see, a sequel to one of the masterpieces of gaming made by one of the most, if not the most highly respected PC game developers, or do you want a shitty console port that basically takes all that is good about Crysis and tosses it out the window?
Port-hurl Two.
The first was amazing, the second looks like it's gonna run this shit into the ground.
I want portal 2 because:
It's made by valve
Co-Op
It's made by valve
It's a good puzzle series
It's made by valve
It's made by valve
So your asking us if you would rather play a game that you can rip open holes in the fabric of the universe, get to have a smart-mouthed British databank as your partner, and get to eventually look forward to infinite user generated content, or a game that you can go skipping around with a bunch of other dudes in homoeroctic suits on the same maps ( even if the maps/graphic quality is/are fucking incredible) over and over again.

I would personally go with portal but if your a graphics fiend I would go with crysis.

What the fuck? You forgot to add that valve made it. Do you forget who the great people are that created such a masterpiece?
You're asking a bunch of Valve fanboys, what answer did you expect?

hmmm....
crysis 2 was pretty mediocre, and so far the complexity of the puzzles in portal 2 look like they'll extend the gameplay by at least a couple of hours. After my friend beat it, all the replay value in Crysis 2 was small, and mostly consisted of fucking about, and crysis 1 was better for that

No, he's asking a bunch of video game players with taste. Oh wait that's the same thing.

That doesn't sound elitist at all. I didn't say Valve was bad, I just implied that FP will almost always side with a Valve game. Get off your high horse, "taste" pft.
Crytek or Valve?
Valve

AND WE ARE PROUD OF WHAT WE ARE! :colbert:

You are having difficulty deciding between a game full of nonstop puzzles and action and a game with constant cloak-melee-kills.
Fuck that shit, Crysis 2 can wait.
Neither.
Portal 2. It's going to be a game that you wont want spoiled and there's no doubt that there will be talk about it everywhere when it's released. Crysis 2 can wait.
crysis 2 is garbage
Crysis 2 is great fun, I have it. But I think Portal 2 is gonna be a better buy. No fanboyism.
Crysis 2 was a disappointment.
Portal 2 looks really interesting. 1 was a new experience.
Portal 2. It's full-length, and a totally new story.
disregard mindless shooting.
think with portals.
