• Moving steam games from external HD (Backup) to SSD

Hello, installed my SSD today, want to install a single game on it (that has sort of long loading times and it isnt too big) I read that a solution for steam to recognize it is: 1. Set steam to download the game 2. pause steam DL 3. Move game to the folder where game is downloading. 4. unpause DL and it should recognize it's been downloading. However this isn't working, how do I fix it?
I just move the actual file from one drive to another, and then have steam re validate them. Some games WILL NOT, even with the new option to choose different drives, install on a drive other than the one Steam is installed on. Looking at you Saints row the third...
Steam was actually updated a few months ago with recognition of previously installed games. Just copy the game folder over to steam and do as you would to download the game via steam normally, during the "install" steam will detect the existing files, scan to make sure they are up to date and use them.
