Can't decide between the Sidewinder X4 or the G15 keyboards - Hardware & Software

Hey guys recently i've decided to buy a new keyboard but i'm torn on either the X4 or the G15, i really like the look of the X4 but the G15s LCD screen is a really tempting thing to have. So what do you guys believe is the better keyboard?

If you want the G15 for the screen, buy a better keyboard and a $20 LCD Smartie kit on eBay

For the love of god, buy a mechanical keyboard. They're much nicer to type on than those robber dome ones.

My G15 v1 is still kicking after 5-6 years (really can't remember when I bought it!) but I'd agree with the mechanical keyboard commendations. While the screen on the G15 is useful at times, in terms of actual typing, a mechanical keyboard will stomp it. Also, the G15 v2 is terrible compared to the v1.

My G11 just died a couple of months ago, so I bought the sidewinder X6, since the G11 was put off the market, and the G110 and so on were much higher above my budget. Also, the sidewinder looked sexier. I won't recommend the sidewinder X4, because my sidewinder X6 ghosts. X6 is a model above, so I can't believe it would be any better on the X4. Ghosting means it will ignore simultaneous key presses, so for example if you go forward on W, press CTRL to duck and you need to reload in a game, it will ignore the R. In battlefield you can't use the afterburner (shift) and press forward (W) while steering the plane left with the arrowkeys. Sterring it right does however work. I was very disappointed, and I'm going get another keyboard just because it's unplayable. I also find it unacceptable, especially for a gaming keyboard.

X4 doesn't have the ghosting, however it is a known issue on the X6. Why the dumb ratings?

I like mechanical keyboards, but really are not my preference to have.

Then I can only say the X4 would be great, the keys on the X6 has the best feel I've had on a keyboard yet, except the ghosting. Oh and as the rest of the thread says, yes, mechanical keyboards are sex compared to normal keyboards.

X4 is better of the two.

If you do end up getting the g15, [url=http://mylcd.sourceforge.net/lcdmisc/index.html] LCDMisc[/url] is one of the most useful applets I've found.
