So with Christmas coming up I'm trying to put together a new computer and I would greatly appreciate FP's help.
I have a budget of roughly 400-500 bucks. If you can get under budget that would be excellent.
I'd be okay with running games such as BF3, GTAV, Arma 3, MoHW, and Far Cry 3 on medium settings.
My monitor's resolution is 1600x900.
I am from the US.
Things I can reuse are my PSU, bought some months ago:

RAM (unused since they don't fit in my mobo):

I won't need an OS, monitor, mouse or keyboard.

You also get Far Cry 3 for free and $20 off MoH. If you can't reuse a disc drive then that's only another $15.

And you get 10%/$8 off the motherboard with MBPROMO1108.
Thanks Walrus, that looks good to me!
No prob man, sweet avatar by the way
I've had a bad past with Seagate hard drives, mind due that was a few years ago, but I said I would never buy them again.
The ST1000s are pretty reliable
The ST1000s are pretty reliable
Just sayin' I had 2 die on me, plus 1 which a mate had. I'm a fanboy of western digital these days, mainly because I haven't had to buy a new hard drive in a couple of years due to them WD's holding their ground.
Sorry to bump the thread, but I'm about to order parts and was wondering if the build that Walrus posted is still good?
If you're skeptic about the drive then go for a WD Caviar Black. Some of the most reliable drives from what I've read.
Other than that everything looks good. Don't expect that case to be anything fancy though. Actually just noticed that the case only comes with one fan in the rear, so you might want to order some extra.

$20 more, much better, and a well-known case.

Forgot to mention that the case comes with a rear and top fan, and with room for more in the unlikely event you'll need some. Could justify saying that the case is only $10.
[editline]19th December 2012[/editline]
I lied, I guess it comes with 4 fans.
"A rear-mounted 120mm TriCool fan as well as a top-mounted 140mm fan – both with 3-speed switch control – draw air through the case. The case even has mounted an additional pair of 120mm fans behind the front bezel to cool the HDD’s. If you’d rather put your money into what goes inside the case rather than the case itself, the Antec Three Hundred is for you."
I'll whip you up something a little more updated just in case, give me a sec

The Three Hundred Illusion is horridly outdated and has absolutely no room for cable management. I'd never recommend it because of that. And about the lack of fans, I ran my old build in a microATX tower with a single intake fan and got 34C idle/54C max on my i3 and 32 idle/49C max on my 7770. I upgraded to a Corsair Vengeance C70 with 4 fans and my temps have dropped by 1C or 2C, it doesn't make a huge difference as long as air is being moved.
I know it's an old case (I used to recommend it back in 2009, just because of the quality of Antec), but it's still a staple for a good case. Though if you have more experience with it by all means!
That being said cases were never my specialty. GPU, PSU, CPU's my thing.

Promo code HOHOHO for $10 off purchase over $200.
Unfortunately the promo code for 20% off the case can't be used with the other promo code, but it was only $8 off anyways.
Total comes to $523.98 including the promo + shipping, right under $500 when you use the rebates.

Changed to the Caviar Blue just because it's cheaper, still reliable though, and put in the 2gb 7850 in case you upgrade your monitor to a higher resolution any time soon.

Hmm, I also happened to pick the only card that doesn't come with Far Cry 3 or the 20% off coupon :| add this to your cart instead http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103211
That was fast, thanks again Walrus!
No problem man.
