So FP, I found out I may possibly need a root canal. I have never had one before (at least I don't think I have), and I'm a bit nervous about it. I've heard horror stories and people saying it's not as bad as people make it out to be anymore.
Have any of you guys experienced getting a root canal before? How did it go? Be honest.

Honestly, it depends on how good your dentist is. I had one, and speaking from honest experience, all I felt was pressure and a little heat. However, my friend had one, and he said it hurt like shit and tears came out while he was lying there. So... good luck?
Just make sure they give you enough anaesthetic and you'll be fine. It takes a while though, depending on how bad the tooth is, and you'll probably need 2-3 appointments for it in total.
Just be sure to let them know if you feel pain, and they should top you up on anaesthetic. The anxiety of going to get it done will probably be worse than the actual event. Your face also may be sore for a day or two after.
Just get comfortable with it by looking at video's and images without rearing back in horror.

The other was hands down the most agonizing pain I've ever experienced in my life, so much so that I puked before passing out. And he shot me up 6 times during and twice before.

or if the anesthetics don't work, but the chance of that happening is so small. Your dentist will do checks for that most likely.
It's called a root [b]canal[/b] for a reason. Prepare to be crying in large quantities!
I felt nothing the few times I had one done on the same tooth, but that's partially due to the fact a lot of the nerve tissue around that tooth had died off as well, but it's no worse than an extraction if you've ever had one of those done.
Hit yourself with a hammer in the balls then you wont think about the root canal.

Don't even think about closing your mouth a little bit to ease your jaw after the dentist has put in those needles.
It will feel like your nerves are on fire.

A root canal is about a hundred times less painful than letting your tooth get infected.
