• Wifi speeds drop to 0B/s after a few minutes

On both of my laptops, the Wifi speed drops to 0B/s after being used for a minute or two. Router is TP-LINK WR740n and it's a year and a half old. It started happening a few months ago and after some googling I updated the firmware and it worked flawlessly. Now it started doing the same thing again. If anything is being downloaded it will just drop down to 0 B/s, however steam and skype chats still work and the computer shows that it's still connected to the network. A temporary fix is to reconnect to the network, and I did make a batch script for that but it's just annoying. Could it be a wrong setting in my router? If it helps, I'm using WEP protection (because some of my devices don't play well with WPA). My mobile phone works fine on the wifi (blackberry bold 9900), however the tablet also seems to drop connection after a few minutes EDIT: now it started dropping the connection too
Get rid of the tplink router it's trash, post your internet speed. You may want to plug directly into modem to make sure your internet is working properly, run speedtest.net
I forgot to mention that the LAN connection to my main PC works without problems. I would gladly just buy a new router, but I'm kinda low on cash at the moment. Any other tips?

Any other tips?[/QUOTE] The actual router and switching portion are probably fine, but the wireless is crapping out. Its only a 20 USD router, I'm impressed you got a year and a half out of it. Only suggestion I have is to save up, and spend a bit more cash for something more reliable.
