My system atm:
core i5 750 @3.6
hd 4890
intel x25-m
kingston ram apparently @800mhz
After getting the ssd a while ago,and replacing my gpu tomorrow (hd 6950),
my only question remaining is:
Is getting higher clocked ram worth the upgrade?
(I normally would've gotten ram @1066 at the start, but the order got messed up.)
Will I benefit from/notice the change from 800mhz -> 1333mhz?
Is it a big difference in games etc?
Not really worth it IMO, 1600Mhz is a nice boost but you won't really notice since CAS is around 9 and the 800mhz probably has CAS of 5
Thanks,
you're right, probably not worth the money investment for not a lot of performance gain (some benchmarks stating a mere 1% gain, though not sure if these are valid numbers)
Doesn't RAM normally report it's speed at half of the actual? (So you have 1600 mhz?)
I just seem to remember something like this, I could be wrong, but I don't remember DDR3 RAM being made at 800 mhz

Looks like you're right.. Now only to find out why my timings are 10-10-10-27 in stead of 7-7-...
