Does anyone know of a good hamachi alternative VPN?
My friend cant install it it keeps saying that it ended prematurely due to an unmodified system r from a previous installation of it, we even went into teh registry to delete EVERYTHING Hamachi so idk.
If Hamachi is being a butthole I usually go for GameRanger BUT the game youre trying to play needs to be supported by it. but it's still an alternative so I might as well list it here.

Uhh, there's kind of a point to a VLAN, privacy. Port forwarding a server through the Router does not provide that without using a password. The bloat these add is negligible on basically any modern PC anyway.

who cares? 95% of the people using hamachi are doing it because they're too dumb or CBA to port forward

Mean. I use Hamachi because port forwarding only works half the time for me.
I use hamachi because I'm too cheap for a Cisco VPN.

Wat?
server has static IP
router forwards port to static IP of server.
I don't see what could possibly cock up.

Probably uses DHCP.
Even then you can set a computer to have a static IP.
Although, he may have a crap router which doesn't support it.
My BT homehub practicaly ignored any port forwarding settings you gave it.
I have a crap router that does not support it.
Also I can't forward any of my friends ports for some reason and one of them has almost the same router as me.
I can't port forward Source games.
Every other games works however. DD-WRT, Y U NO LIKE SOURCE?

I have the same issue, thankfully it was my server that needed forwarding, so I just installed a beefier firewall and set a DMZ to the servers IP address.

That may have been the problem, since it was running some firmware from mid-2008.
just buy netgear for $20~$30 at your local store like wal-mart. port forwarding is easy.
