I have a challenge for you guys!
Can you find parts to build a working computer for under $100?
I would actually consider building it as an experiment to see if it could run Garry's Mod or something.
Certainly nothing that can run Garry's Mod. You could build something for browsing/ media/ 2D games.
E: Though if you seriously want a cheap pc I have an older Intel Pentium G630, 4gb ram, dell case, mb, and psu if you want to buy it all lol

I've tried looking, the closest I've found with those specs is like $300
If you know where to look at the right time, you can get a rig for less than $100 that will run Gmod.
I've gotten whole P4 rigs with 500 GB hard drives and Geforce 7 series cards for $15 before.
I could probably build a $150 rig with used older parts but nothing newer than probably 2007-2008 vintage.

Utilize the beast that was the 9800?
Radeon 9800 or Geforce 9800?

The G92 core has weird performance issues with modern versions of Source. Strangely the Radeon 9800, while being a much older card works better for some reason.

It requires some extensive searching to find the parts so it is >=100
Certainly not impossible.. But it may require you haggling with idiots on craigslist/breaking into an elementary school's computer lab.
I don't think you could do it retail. Better off going through a junkyard or something for parts.

Geforce 9800. And ah, I didn't realize that. I guess I have fond memories of my Phenom x4 9600 Black and 9800GTX
I used to have a 9600GT, was good for some simple games, but whenever I tried Crysis it would turn into a hot cup of coffee straight away and almost melt in my system. I was scared about owning that one... TF2 was fine with it though and even with Anti Aliasing up to what, 16xEQ or so?? Would lag quite a bit at times so I had to turn it down.
I have a 9600gt lying here in a box somewhere, served me well over the years
I bought a complete PC from a second hand store for $17 earlier today:
Athlon 64 3200+ (2.2 GHz)
2 GB DDR-400
160 GB HD
DVD-RW
Geforce 7300 256M/Geforce4 MX4000 128M/Radeon X300SE (why it had 3 video cards is beyond me)
Windows XP Home
I don't think you can get much cheaper than that. It should run Gmod at some resolution :v:

I don't know why speccy says the 7300 is 128M, it's definitely a 256M card. I was using the VRAM on it as a RAM disk in a Linux machine.
You got yourself an emachine you are so lucky those things are NEVER obsolete.
The machine sitting on the floor behind it is less obsolete even though it's 5 years older :downs:
No really, it is less obsolete. It's a Compaq iPaq made in 1999. Original equipment was a PIII 500 with 128M of RAM, but I shoehorned a quad core AMD in it:

Op posted a hit and run like i had a feeling it was, had no intention of anything past wasting all your time and money
Not really a waste of time and money for me since the machine is going to be resold after I fix it up and clean it out.
It would make sense to have extra cards if they were voodoo, but eh...
The machines I find in the thrift stores with multiple video cards, sound cards, etc. are usually a result of the former owner being an idiot and not knowing what they're doing.
The last machine I found with multiple video cards only had one properly installed and the rest were malfunctioning because the PCI/AGP connectors had oxidized. Using an eraser on the contacts fixed the malfunctioning cards.
These machines are also usually not wiped so you find all sorts of stuff on them like family pictures, old girlfriend porn, financial records, etc. One machine I got a few years back had an entire familys' social security numbers stored in a PDF on the desktop :downs:

Number one thing to always do when selling a used PC is a HDD wipe. You'd think on how long we have had PC's, people would know to do just that.

From how some of these PCs ended up in thrift store, I don't think that will ever happen.
