I'm trying to figure out what type of motherboard my computer has, as I would like to replace the graphics card, but I can't figure it out. I had downloaded Speccy, an awesome program that tells you about your computer, but it tells me my Motherboard is a LENOVO LENOVO (Socket A). My computer is a Lenovo 3000 J Series. Operating System MS Windows XP Home 32-bit SP3 CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 90nm Technology RAM 1.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 251MHz (4-4-4-12) Motherboard LENOVO LENOVO (Socket A) Graphics L192 Wide @ 1440x900 32MB GeForce 6100 (Lenovo) Hard Drives 244GB Hitachi HDT722525DLA380 41N3150LEN (IDE) Optical Drives HL-DT-ST DVDRAM_GSA-H10N Audio SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Is there another way to find out what my Motherboard is exactly? Or do I need a brand spanking new motherboard -.-
even if you do get a new GPU it's going to be bottlenecked by that CPU and the RAM that's really a dead system and not worth upgrading, and it would be much better if you were to save up and get a new computer
The CPU is Dual core, I believe it spits out 2.0. I was also planning on upgrading RAM, as it's generally inexpensive. I'm not looking for the top of the line gaming computer, just something that can play Team Fortress 2 and G mod without having everything on low. But I would have to buy a new Motherboard then? Alright, thanks.
Well, buying a whole computer would be the best option, but if all you want to do is play TF2 and GMod then you can get away with a sub-$100 GPU open up your case, and see if you have a PCI-E slot. Also, it's likely that you would need a new PSU to go along with the GPU [editline]2nd March 2011[/editline] Actually, I don't know your budget, but for $150 you can probably get more RAM, a PSU and a 4830 or something in that range also check and see if your case has room, I want to say at least 9'' to be safe
Well you got me their, a new pc does sound like the best option then, I just don't want to be stuck with windows 7 :\ and I want to play games. Wish they still sold XP discs.. I'll open it up sooner or later and check it out, but intill then I'll spy out some new computers. Anything I should be looking for now in computers that wasn't as important, or around, five-six years ago?
