• Competitive 1v1 Games?

Hey, For whatever reason I've had an itch to play a competitive 1v1 game and go through its ranking system. So do you have any recommendations for populated games that could fulfill this? Don't bother to recommend Hearthstone, Street Fighter, or anything in those genres. Also PC games only please. Thanks
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare has a duel mode, though I don't think it has a ranking system outside of leveling up.
www.pokemonshowdown.com free pokemon battle simulator with an elo rating system and a lot of different formats. been playing it for years.
Rocket League has ranked 1v1's try that.
company of heroes 2? it's a slightly modernized ww2 rts
Starcraft 2.
Smash Bros. on Anther's Ladder. Find people all around the world for different Smash games and play netplay via Dolphin. Ranking system and all, and very easy to find people.
Games by Blizzard usually have a 1v1 ranked, I think I even recall one back in Warcraft 3..?
Online Pool Games.

I don't really like Starcraft 2, and isn't it kinda unbalanced?

Nidhogg, if you want to compete on the couch with a friend
I don't really like Starcraft 2, and isn't it kinda unbalanced?
Uh, not really. Pretty much anything can be countered with the appropriate tactics and strategies. Even when the balance of the game seems out of whack, the community comes up with ways to counteract that without Blizzard even having to lift a finger a lot of the time.

Tf2 (on low population servers) Smash Bros. Melee (I've heard the 4th installment is competitive too, but ive never played it) Blockland dms
Jedi Achademy's duel mode
Tf2 (on low population servers) Smash Bros. Melee (I've heard the 4th installment is competitive too, but ive never played it) Blockland dms
In TF2 there's a mode literally made for 1v1 skirmishing called MGE, you don't need to search for servers that have like 1-3 players on them to 1v1. [editline]1st March 2016[/editline] I've heard that Blade and Soul has an amazing 1v1 battle system and I think there's a Tag Team mode too, but it's one of those games you have to understand first and practice a bit more. There is also CS:GO MGE servers that amp up the challenge in comparison to TF2 MGE, which ever you prefer. I believe that Rocket League has competitive 1v1 matchmaking systems for ranked players. MOBAs such as League of Legends or DotA 2 have some serious 1v1 matches, not only that there's "lanes" in both games that require overall 1v1 skill such as the Top Lane and Middle Lane but since they're MOBAs you have to have a taste for them as well patience for learning and mastering skills in both games.
Quake Live
xcom
I've wanted to get into Xcom2's mp, but the delay between each player's turns fucking kills it for me.
ratz instagib
Holy shit you're right! I'll be sure to get that next sale.
Quake Live
Isn't that pretty much dead now after the stuff they pulled?
