'bricked' blackberry curve 8530. Any point in fixing it?

So a friend of mine gave me his blackberry curve 8530 when it broke. It's in an infinite boot cycle. Is there a way (if I go out and buy a USB cord) to restore or fix it? If so can I unlock it and use it? It's t-mobile and I'm on AT&T. Or could I just fix it and sell it on eBay?

1] Call or visit T-Mobile store. Get the unlock key for free.
2] To get it unbricked, you can try reflashing it. Find someone with another 8530 TMobile, copy the flash and send it over. Or optionally, just look for the ROM itself.
