BC2 always lagging - Hardware & Software

On any server that says they have about 50 ping always gives me from 190 to almost 300 hundred ping. I do not understand. Is it my ports?

Thanks for the descriptive OP, OP. If you're using wireless, check your receiving hardware and outputting hardware to make sure they're getting/sending the right broadcast frequency, G/N and I think B if you're from the year 2000. Move your computer closer to the router. Make sure you arent broadcasting on the same frequency as many other wireless products in your house, like wireless phones. If you're wired, sounds like your connection speed is too slow.

Back when it first came out. I actually got it for 36 dollars from the EA Store, i had a coupon now that i remember. But still thats wasted money...

What's your computers specs? BC2 is very CPU intensive.

Is it my ports?[/QUOTE] ping is 2 way. servers that tell you its 50 ping are actually 100ms. i dont know why its like this, but it is. bc2 is a great game, best fps to date, you shouldn't give up on it over something so trivial. you should note that the game is hard, if your getting pwned, maybe you just suck.

That's because it takes 100 ms to communicate with the server and back to you. (50 each way). And that is why ping is ridiculously high sometimes.

And way to be blunt about it.[/QUOTE] all games have their problems, but this high ping your getting isnt really usual (for servers near to you). sometimes bc2's lag compensation thingy screws up, but your referring to pings, so i dont think thats your problem. in that case, its specific to you, if not, try aiming where the person was a few seconds ago and see if that helps.
