It doesn't sit right with me that Google is being punished for this even though the only way we found out about it was Google coming out and telling us they did it accidentally.
If they hadn't said anything, and kept it secret, they would have gotten away with it and not been punished. They even could have continued doing it if they'd wanted to, but instead they stopped, apologised and told everyone about it. And now they're being punished for that.
It's just strange.

They didn't come out with the information voluntarily, they were requested it by a commision apparently. If they put up a facade and that was later revealed to be fake they would have been severely fucked up.
Pff, this is bullshit, it isn't Google's fault that people have unsecured computers and wireless networks.

Well for alot of people, they do not know how to go into their wireless router and either put on a password or disable SSID broadcast.
