I read this as "My Relationship with Kingdom Come is built on a lie..." and figured this would be a really intriguing article about the writer doing something unethical because they had ties with the game's publisher or something, instead I got this pointless blog post.

Surely, if we want this medium to be taken seriously as a storytelling vessel the best thing is not to discuss (and in a roundabout way, praise) such writing.
The article's title's a bit weird, but the situation the author describes definitely caught me off guard as well. It's two things coming together. First of all, you have a situation where the game puts you on the spot, but, and here's the twist, without telling you. There's no quest marker or anything highlighting her when you escape your hometown. You know she's there and you hear her screaming. But in the end, as you run away you take the whole situation as it is, you just accept it. However, what makes the whole thing even more interesting is that the game later confronts you about it. I don't know about you guys, and especially how you play RPGs, but more often than not I just tend to speed through dialogue branches because ultimately anything they say probably won't surprise me. Until I hit the mentioned "So how did you escape the Cumans?" and she confronts me about my knowledge. It's the concept of you subconsciously making a tough decision and the game seemingly letting you off the hook, only to get into your face about it later which just massively increases the impact. There's probably a word for it.

I didn’t have to kill them, I just punched them in the head and got the achievement as I ran away
What kind of pussy chooses NOT to save Theresa?
I somehow never even saw the cumans at the house. I had to look it up to see what the hell people were talking about.
You're meant to whistle for the nearby horse to come over to you, which also distracts the Cumans. It's a teaching element of the game you're not actually supposed to miss and I still managed to cock it up.
