I really need to unlock my Dell bios. I have an Inspiron 530. Help?
why do you need to unlock it
why do you need to unlock it
Want to overclock my shitty 2.00GHz dual core CPU.
The E2200 isn't bad, if this is for gaming then you may want to upgrade the gpu if you already haven't. a 6100 Go isn't the best [editline]02:11AM[/editline] and/or update your drivers http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
What? I have an E4400 and a 9600 GSO. I upgraded from an 8600 GT which came with the computer. But how do I unlock my Dell bios?
Want to overclock my shitty 2.00GHz dual core CPU.
nehalem dual core? edit: nvm read op again
you need to google and find a modded bios, but it isn't worth it really. you fuck up the flash you're done
you need to google and find a modded bios, but it isn't worth it really. you fuck up the flash you're done
Fuck. So should I jsut buy something like an E5400 or something?
baw, no -nvm, i guess it isn't that bad of an idea, i just don't know how it is with warranties and such-
yeah E5300 or E7400

I'll do it in the morning I gotta sleep
I'll do it in the morning I gotta sleep
:saddowns: Anyways I'm worried that the E5400 is pentium it makes me scared of buying it.
:saddowns: Anyways I'm worried that the E5400 is pentium it makes me scared of buying it.
Same architecture as the lower end Core2's. Just rebranded.
Bottomline: You cannot unlock OEM bios, unless an unoffical custom bios was made designed for your motherboard.
In that case if I get a 2.93GHz Pentium Dual Core and it uses 1066MHz, and my mobo uses 800MHz will it still work?
Yes
Cool.
Yes
Wait if his Mobo's bios doesn't accept FSBs higher than 800Mhz, won't putting in a 1066Mhz FSB CPU cause his computer to not boot?
Post what motherboard it has. I tried googling "Dell Inspiron 530" to see if I could find it, but I couldn't gather any information about this computer. Even Dell's website doesn't have it. Get CPU-Z and go to the mainboard tab to see.
Wait if his Mobo's bios doesn't accept FSBs higher than 800Mhz, won't putting in a 1066Mhz FSB CPU cause his computer to not boot?
it will downclock the cpu to 800mhz FSB X multiplier
The E4500 is a Core 2 Duo. Ive overclocked mine to 2.75Ghz but @ 2.2ghz it works fine for games.
So I could even get a quad-core and it'd work, just be clocked down? Huhhhhhhh
Dell doesn't make their own motherboards, they put a spec out to bid and usually the lowest bidder gets the contract to build boards for Dell. The OEM boards they ship to dell are usually stripped down versions of their mainstream boards and have all of their logos stripped off, except maybe a P/N. If you can match a P/N to the manufacturer of the board and the original model of the board, you may be able to flash the BIOS with the original BIOS from the OEM board instead of Dells locked down BIOS.
So I could even get a quad-core and it'd work, just be clocked down? Huhhhhhhh
The chipset doesn't support quads most likely, so the computer either won't boot or will only report two cores. It also probably has the wrong voltages and could fry the CPU.
I'd recommend getting a new processor.
I'd recommend getting a new processor.
Rated late. Oh so very late. This is why no body likes prebuilts... Accutally if you buy a prebuilt you obviously don't know too much about computers and they lock the bios so you don't go into it and just fuck it up.
Prebuilts make me cry. Never buying one again.
