sounds like EVE PLEX, which seems to work so. however I see kids getting scammed left and right off this,
Runescape's trade window shows the current grand exchange (global market) average price in big red letters now. You'd need to be incredibly stupid not to notice getting scammed.
Runescape really has had a huge history of trying to eliminate all forms of scams from existence, haven't they? Has anyone been around when they changed the original Wilderness mechanics and basically compressed the wilderness's player killing into an arena? Understandably they updated that with making worlds that are 100% PvP, but still... there was a huge riot at the time. As a former player moderator of that game, I remembered some other player moderators getting violent over that issue as well.

I wish more MMOs would embrace a model like this. I find it interesting that if you're savvy enough, you can literally pay for your gametime through the gameplay. I guess its slightly counter intuitive as everyone and their grandma would be attempting to become self sufficient (in the sense that they dont pay a dime to keep playing.)

Sure, it works for EVE because EVE is a giant, but I can't see it working out for smaller MMOs like Wildstar. Maybe Runescape has the crowd to support it, we'll have to see.
