It stopped at half-way through. Just that. Please help me.
There's no real reason to update to 4.0.2, unless you don't want to jailbreak.
If so, enter DFU mode and try from there.
What does 4.0.2 do?
I could remove the charger, right?
Enter DFU and re-do the update.
I dont want to restore it!
I dont want to restore it!
Well you're screwed, then.
Why the hell do you want to update to 4.0.2 anyways? It provides NO benefit, other than breaking the current jailbreak
I never jailbroke mine, so I updated anyways.
I found my phone to be faster than before (iPhone 3G). Loadingtimes were halfed!
I dont want to restore it!
If you have had backup your stuff, why worry?
I tried restoring it and, it´s kinda broken. It did the same thing when it was installing the same update during the restore. Tomorrow I´m going with it to the store where I bought it.
Mine failed with error 1611, ended up having to restore, sounds like a few people are having issues upgrading.
Yeah, the good thing is that it´s sent to apple for reparation and I´ll probably get a new one from them.
Erm, it actually prevents a rather large security exploit, not only was jailbreak possible, but hackers could also take over your entire phone.
The choices were:
1. Jailbreak and install the app on cydia which protects you
2. Upgrade to 4.0.2
I upgrade because I don't need my phone jailbroken.
Also, @OP, if you got half way through and it stopped, it's pretty much time to give in and restore :S
DFU MODE, MAN
Why would you send it away when you can just enter DFU mode and have this thing done in 5 minutes?

and if you jailbreaked your iphone the jailbreakers actually added in a option to disable the feature that causes the hacks

Not everyone wants/needs their phone jailbroken.
Not everyone wants/needs their phone jailbroken.
Exactly, jailbreaking is useless to me, and I'm tired of everyone telling me to jailbreak. I only jailbroke on 1.0 because there was no app store, but once 2.0 came out with apps I had no reason to jailbreak. Also I know that I would get access to apps Apple rejected but I don't really use apps that much anyway.
Exactly the same here. I jailbroke a few days ago and to be completely honest I wasn't impressed. There wasn't much there which I found particularly useful for me, everything I want to do iOS can do already.

All of those who say this are simply unaware of the potentials of what you can do with a jailbroken device.

Elaborate
I am aware, I just don't see an attraction.
But go ahead, persuade me.
Elaborate
Let's see...
-There's are apps that allows you to install IPAs directly onto your device, modified or not, signed by apple or not, have DRM or not. Most people would jailbreak their device solely for this purpose. (Google what an .IPA file is if you don't know)
-There are apps that will allow you to play a huge variety of media files with a large range of codecs, as well as allowing you to stream from a network, and convert it on the fly
-There are apps/addons that allows you to customize the GUI of iOS however you like it, to spice up the look, sounds, and experience in general
-There are apps/addons that adds additional features to the lockscreen, and you can check and read your mail, calender, weather, RSS feeds etc all at the same time without even needing to unlock the device
-There are apps/addons that allows you to block certain numbers from sending you SMS and calling you in real time
-There are apps/addons that allows you to turn features on and off, adjust brightness, and etc by simply sliding the Status Bar and will bring up a easy to use GUI rather than having to navigate through the Settings all the time over a simple (and possibly) frequent switch.
-There are apps/addons that enables flash support on all idevices. Although it is still experimental, but it works on most flash objects I have encountered, and runs quite fast.
-There are tweaks that can speed up your device and removing useless daemons and will potentially improve your battery life
-There are tweaks that will also unlock hidden potentials and restrictions within the device, such as allowing to use Facetime over 3G
-There are tweaks that will change certain aspects of your device to make it more useful, such as adding media control features to the volume button, and you can skip, rewind, and pause songs by simply pressing the volume buttons without needing to take the ipod out of your pocket even.
-There are tweaks that makes the default Apple apps more enjoyable, such as adding video downloading features to the Youtube app, as well as the ability to play downloaded videos
...
I can go on all day.
Still not convinced? You're being dense then :colbert:
None of those would be of use to me though
[editline]01:13PM[/editline]
I like the UI, I barely use apps so I don't care, I rarely if ever change the settings, I don't want to see all of that stuff on my lock screen, I never go on sites that really require flash, I don't even watch videos on my phone (except for on Hulu Plus), I don't use FaceTime, and I don't eat a wifi hotspot from my phone or anything, all media files I play are already compatible with iOS.

No offense, but if that list does not convince you at all, and not even for the slightest bit, then you must be one of the tech illiterate guys who bought an expensive over-featured device and use it exclusively for the most essential features such as listening to music, watch videos, call a few friends once in a while and nothing else for the majority of time, and/or is not understanding the point of my list at all/ignoring the major entries on the list.

Uh no you weren't
Uh no you weren't
lol ok
I use my phone to shoot video, take pictures, make phone calls, browse the web watch tv shows on Hulu, use the apps that I need to use that ALL ARE APPROVED by Apple, although I do see the advantages of jailbreaking I don't need to do it, and I bought my phone because I wanted an upgrade from my old slow 3G. I am not computer illiterate, I'm not an idiot, and just because I don't want to jailbreak because I'm fine with the features built in to the OS doesn't mean I'm illiterate.
[editline]01:24PM[/editline]
In fact everyone I know with a Jailbroken device irl are so computer illiterate it's sad.
