I mean, think about it. Billions upon trillions of galaxies and possibly quadrillions of planets. Surely one of them has to contain life that isn't our own.
Yurp
Do you mean things such as alien abductions or otherwise?
I don't believe in it, but I don't doubt it either.
I don't doubt that there is life somewhere out there. But the question is how rare it is and if we ever will be able to contact any.
It would be a mathematical improbability for there to be no life on other planets.
what rational person doesn't?
I believe that it's possible for it to exist, but I'd have to say no. There's no proof.
It would be a mathematical improbability for there to be no life on other planets.
You can't draw that conclusion since we have no idea of how rare life is.
I believe there is life. But that life has no level of intelligence.
You can't draw that conclusion since we have no idea of how rare life is.
But given the almost infinite number of planets, asteroids, and variations on life, the likelihood of there being absolutely no life of any kind outside of earth is so small as to be statistically improbable.
If anything NO Extraterrestrial Life is less plausible.
not really
Microbial Yes. Sentient would be so far away for us to contact, it'd take us another thousand or so years to do so.
I believe that it's possible for it to exist, but I'd have to say no. There's no proof.
Explain to me exactly how you just happened to miss Earth? For as long as we exist, I want to belive
Obviously. If you don't, you have no clue about astronomy. There's billions upon billions of other solar systems out there. I'm pretty sure at least one of the planets within those billions of solar systems can support some form of life similar to Earth. The question is, are there any other species besides mammals, amphibians, insects and etc, or are those the basic form of life universally?
Not ONLY are there billions of solar systems, there are also billions of galaxies HOLDING billions of solar systems. 1,000,000,000 * 1,000,000,000 = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] Basically speaking, there is an immense fucking shitload of solar systems.
People who don't are ignorant and stupid.
Pretty sure one of Jupiter's moons has life.
People say you cant say there is life out there until you find a fossil. But really its not like the first cell was magic or anything and cant be replicated. Not to mention there are many other ways life could arize besides the ways earth did.
Certainly I do Though it's pretty.. overwhelming to think. How random can evolution process be? How advanced would they be? More advanced than humans? Or maybe less? Even so, in a relatively small time, we've advanced a whole lot, so some other specie could have been advancing a whole lot more. :psyboom:
It would be impossible for alien life to not exist but this does not mean they will be more advanced then us.
There has to be something out there, but I don't believe they're actually visiting earth and anal probing rednecks or something like that.
But given the almost infinite number of planets, asteroids, and variations on life, the likelihood of there being absolutely no life of any kind outside of earth is so small as to be statistically improbable.
You can't say that. You have no statistics available to jump to that conclusion: # of ET-planets: ~Many billions # of ET-planets who hold life: unknown # of ET-planets extensively examined for life: 0 These facts tell you nothing about the scarcity of life out there. There simply aren't enough numbers available to make estimated guesses. So far we can only speculate!
Not to mention there are many other ways life could arize besides the ways earth did.
How did life arise on Earth? And what are these other ways you speak of?
If Earth could get life why can't others? I mean it's impossible that there is no chance for life on other planets.
If Earth could get life why can't others?
I didn't say that. I'm just trying to say that you people present your guesses and speculations as facts when they clearly aren't. That's how religious people argue.
The idea of it isn't really idiotic at all its just the realization of if we have life then something else might also have life as well because if we were truely alone in the universe then it would be some boring ass universe. now lets say the chance of other life was .01& even that would mean the largest number and even if couldn't find some in are galaxy we could possible find them in others, how ever would have to establish a way useing wormholes to get to a even Farther distance.
Only an idiot doubts intelligent life. Statistically speaking it is near impossible for Earth to be the only one.

Its obvious that there isnt anything magical about life and we are made out of atoms that form all over the universe.
I'm an alien guys
