• Ati 3870 fuck up / BSOD/ graphical glitches

So I got my PC shipped up to my apartment and it worked fine for the first hour or so, then I was watching 2001 in 1080p, and blue blocks and red pixels started to glitch out the screen. I assumed it was the few months old driver, but that new 10.8 fucked it up even more, but probably didn't install correctly or somehow disabled the driver. After that didn't work I cleaned the card, I checked speedfan and it wasn't overheating and the fan is running. Right now it is either not displaying anything when the PC starts, get a BSOD ATIKMDVAG error, or when I plug the DVI into the other port, it has MAJOR blue lines/blocks and color glitches and barely works. I can't figure out how to update/fix the driver or use the on board graphics from my mobo (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H, Ati 3200) As of now, I'm not sure if I can even get anything displayed on the screen. I think I gave everyone enough info, hopefully someone knows the answer, besides just ordering a new card, which I'd rather not do :/ tldr: 3870 not displaying anything or glitching horribly at 640x480, not overheating, driver is fucked up, it's not the monitor or cable.
RMA it or if you have no warranty, reflow it.
A few things you can try, first is to check if the PC has an AGP or PCI/PCI-e motherboard, I've seen some good server systems being sold lately with AGP slots, and the ATI Radeon 3000 series of cards has some AGP models. If it is AGP download the AGP drivers (not the standard ones). Check that the fans on the card are working, and keep an eye on the temperatures. clean out any dust, Take the card out of the Pc and make sure all the contacts are clean on the card, and check the slot in the PC to make sure there's no dust or dirt in there. The next thing (temporary solution) is to clock the graphics card right down, it may run slower but at least it'll work until you can sort yourself out another one. If the card still has the problems try using the default Windows drivers (assuming you are using Vista/7), otherwise you will have to remove the card and use the internal one 'til you get a new one
Ok, well I figured it wasn't the card, and it is actually multiple problems. It seems that the drivers got fucked up when I tried to update after seeing that there was glitches, which turned out to be my monitor's DVI port which was dying, I used my mobo 3200 chipset VGA port to update my drivers to 10.8, which fixed that, now I'm gonna send in my Samsung monitor for free warranty repair/replacement. The only thing left is the graphics card, which leaves me to believe that it should work fine, because it wasn't fucked up in the first place, and hopefully me cleaning it and putting new thermal grease didn't fuck it up, which should have helped because the original grease was sloppy, but it never got hotter than 65c with 60% fan speed.
