Best Resolution for GTX 650 non ti? - Hardware & Software

Hi, so I recenting order a pc with these specs: CPU Intel Core i5-3350P 3.1GHz Memory 8GB DDR3 1333 Hard Drive 500GB SATA II Graphics NVIDIA Geforce GTX 650 1GB Power Supply 400W Operating System Windows 8 Motherboard ASROCK H61M-HVS, uAT And I'm wondering, would I be better off with a 720p monitor? Or 1080p? Because I figure 720p would be best because it isn't such a high end GPU

If you haven't ordered the PC yet, I highly recommend you let us give you a part list and build one yourself.

My friend got the Gigabyte 2GB GTX 650 and he runs it at 1080P with no problems. Then again his CPU and Motherboard and RAM are higher specs than yours.

OP, you can always use a lower res on a 1080 screen (which doesnt look as great). But 720 will obviously run faster than 1080. Depending on the game if its really needed. [editline]24th December 2012[/editline] Agreed.[/QUOTE] I am actually planning to build one in a year or two, I just got this PC to hold me over for a bit, and the games I'm gunna try to play will be Borderlands 2, Skyrim, CS:GO, maybe some BF3, so I assume from a peformance standpoint, 720p would be the better option. Or for like a 20" monitor it wouldn't seem too different?

Just build one now, and upgrade in the future then? No point in wasting money on this mediocre computer if your already willing to learn.

In my opinion, these days buying any monitor below 1920x1080 resolution doesn't make sense unless you're on a very tight budget. Even if you'll have to run some games on lower resolutions, you'll still enjoy the extra resolution for all non-gaming uses (much more space on the desktop so you can easily have multiple windows open side by side, ability to view wide webpages properly, 1080p video, etc.)

Definetly. 1920x1200 is a bit of a meh moment because everyone uses 16:9 ratio, leaving youtube videos - movies etc. with a black bar, recording movies will need cropping if you don't want the borders.
