I logged onto my computer about 15 minutes ago, to find that my desktop had been wiped, and I had the default windows 7 background. This baffled me, and worried me, as I produce music, I have an absolute fuck ton of rendered music, etc. in a folder on my desktop called "stuff" just for convenience, and it's gone. I checked "my computer" to see if my project files from the music was intact, they're all still there, alongside my steam folders, etc. however most of the stuff that isn't in "my computer" has vanished, my desktop's gone, my music folder's gone (fucking annoying since I had like 25~gb of music), my documents are gone (had important contract .pdf's in there n shit). Being extremely worried, I tried to restore my computer to a restore point from 4 days ago, the 7th of september, 2013. I came back after my PC had finished restoring and it's exactly the same. Could someone help me identify the problem? I'm mainly looking for a solution here, but an explanation would be more appreciated. [editline]11th September 2013[/editline] Could this be down to a dusty CPU? I often would clean it every 3 or 4 weeks up until early july, I haven't cleaned it since [editline]11th September 2013[/editline] I just cleaned the CPU, not much dust was removed, and restored it once-more, and yet there's no sign of change. I also noticed when I logged into windows it says on a tray pop-up "Your computer is running in default user mode....(can't really remember some of it)...please contact your administrator.." [editline]11th September 2013[/editline] *FIXED* Apparently I just had to go into regedit and rename my profile and it booted on my ordinary profile. Problem averted lmfao
