Long story short, my video card is borked, so I need a new one. I'm looking to spend about 70-90, have no nvidia/ati preference, and want something that can run new games moderately well. My computer/mobo situation might be a bit hard to work around, considering I can only do PCI-E 2.0, but I'd like to find something that works.

I found this card which I think would be perfect, but I just want to make sure it's what I need.

If anyone needs more info, let me know. I'm a bit in-experienced, so I'd be willing to help you help me however possible.
That seems like a good choice, the other options I could find where:

and no the 2GB GDDR3 is not better than the 1GB GDDR5, if you were wondering :eng101: ( I hope you weren't)
Shit. I forgot a big detail.

This is my current motherboard. Had to switch it out.
That suggested card won't work, will it?
Why not a 7750? It's moderately faster than a 6670, and uses less power while doing so

it's backwards compatible
He can't do PCI-E 3.0
The card would work just fine in PCI-E 2.0, with no performance loss.
@OP: You may want to consider getting the 7770 if you want to game. Most of the new games should be playable at very decent FPS if you don't abuse the settings, and I think the card is worth it for the extra buck. You won't be bottlenecked by the CPU and it's a better choice for your system.

Alright. I'll make a decision soon. The only reason I wanted a cheap card was because I'm still deciding if I want to replace everything on this computer or just get a new one eventually, considering the age of my current computer.

I found this 7770 and it's 90 after rebate and all. Would this be okay?

Looks like a good card to me, it'll be a better improvement to your computer than a 7750

I'm not 100% certain that your pc has a PCI-E 6 pin power connector though, could you check?

I'd be glad to, but I'm not sure how to :v:
Just look for either one of these

Or two of these

one more thing, what's the wattage on your psu? (Probably fine here anyways, a 7770 isn't too power hungry)

Gotcha. I'll post results a bit later on when I'm at my computer.

my 7850 works fine with PCI 1.1 link so he will be fine with that card

I ended up having one of those white ones in the second picture. I think my wattage is 400W. One isnt enough, correct?
Well its possible to run it off only one molex, since the average system load for a 7770 is around 250W? I think you should be fine with that, any one else have thoughts?
not a whooooole lot of headroom there...
I'd rather not risk it not working, so I'm grabbing this one.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121632
Is it okay?
That still uses a pci-e x6 power cable, so if you don't want to risk anything just go for a 7750, but if you want the fps/boost a 7770 has your psu should be able to deliver enough power.

Alright, I'm probably going to play it safe with the 7750, but now I'm just deciding between two similar cards.

Is one better than the other, or are they nearly the same?
Same card; different heatsinks / coolers and manufacturer (so each will have different tech support and warranty policies and crap).
Just ordered the first one.
Thanks for your help, FP :)
