I have an EVGA 9600 gt super-clocked edition and need to break it without voiding the warranty.
why?
Want to rma it since it's an old card I might get soemthing newer :3
Put it in the oven? And then just overbake it and claim the production was faulty!
Take a heated needle and slice a few micro chips and say they melted.

Or you could... connect it straight to mains..
Wear a wollen jumper and wolly socks, do the moonwalk on a thick carpet then touch the video card.
Did you register your card?
Take a heated needle and slice a few micro chips and say they melted.
Probably the best option
I play on a 7300GT, you can surely play on a 9600 for a while longer.
...i...have...a 9600 gt. :frown: Come on now, it runs source games smoothly. Why would you ever destroy such a good card?
Let's all commit fraud.
Take a few D sized batteries and attach them together with wires coming out both sides of the chain. Attach needles to that and start touching random places of the board on the back until you see smoke. OR you could stick something inside the fan and then play GTA IV/Crysis, which would be more fun.
Boot up crysis warhead, play an hour of it then jam the cooler fan. KEH-BOOM.
Overclock it even more if you can, than stop the fan and play crysis on max. settings. It's going to be slow, but it will probably destroy the card. Or you can do this: 1. put in a freezer for 1 hour. 2. put in an oven for 2 hours. 3. repeat it for like 2-3 times 4. If you're lucky you will get a better card...............
You'll end up breaking the card, sending it back, they either wont replace it and you'll have no card or else send you another copy of the same card.
How's about you just buy a new card.

ITT: How to get reported for fraud.
I have a 9600GT from MSI, I can play most games on 1920x1080 maxed out, so if you want something newer, well...
FYI they just send you the closest thing they have to the card you had, so you might even get something shitter, like a 310.
Just sell it on, it's not a bad card per say and if you go a little under market value you'll definitely have people interested. Then you can use the money to get a better one.
What's wrong with the card? I have an 8600GTS and it kicks ass(Plays GTA IV, Crysis on medium-high, source games maxed, etc.). The 9600GT must be a lot better.
Yeah, I have a 8600m in my 3 year old dell laptop and it runs source games fine.
Breaking a video card on purpose voids the warranty.
He wants to be fraudulent. Anyway... The suggestions here would probably work.
I have an EVGA 9600 gt super-clocked edition and need to break it without voiding the warranty.
You are the reason we can't have nice things.
Start a bios update and then reset the computer halfway through. What you'll get back is exactly the card you deserve to have.
Want to rma it since it's an old card I might get soemthing newer :3
Get the fuck out. The world need less warranty defrauders such as yourself, making corporations loose money when they can be helping the customers who are legitimately in needs. Do us a favor and never had kids.
