• Apparently my Windows 7 isn't a Real Copy

Alright, so about 2 weeks ago my computer would shut off once a day randomly and I would have to reboot with the Windows Error screen... I asked my dads worker that works with issues like these and he says Microsoft now made it to where if your Windows 7 isn't a real copy it shuts down. Problem is: MY WINDOWS 7 IS A LEGIT COPY. I got the key from Microsoft and it came with a .iso file online and I used my key after installing Windows 7 through the .iso so I don't get it. My question: One of the other workers said there is a program that stops it from like sending the information about your copy to Microsoft, does anyone know what program it is? Thanks. :buddy:
I'm pretty sure that if you're pretty sure it being a legit key, you can call microsoft
I'll try tomorrow if I don't get any answers about the program or something.
You haven't got any warnings the last month? Your computer will shut down every two hours, just reboot before the two hours, and you're good. Then call Microsoft.
Call up Microsoft and get it sorted properly, getting some sketchy software to bypass the key authentication is a silly idea if your copy is really legit.
a bios mod always works....
a bios mod always works....
Well, then it would be warez right?
Alright guys, thanks for the help.
a bios mod always works....
Hey guys lets modify a critical part of the machine that can easily brick the motherboard for the sake of getting around key authentication. No. Not to mention it doesn't always work, it only works on certain prebuilts with a locked OEM key. It is a giant hassle and if you don't actually know what you are doing your will brick it.
You could always get something to bypass Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) but that's not for here. But give Microsoft's support line a call if you bought the key legitimately they might give you a new key if you have a genuine key that's been flagged.
The only time Windows will give you a BSOD (assuming that's what you mean by reboot and windows error message) is when you're running a non-final build (pre RTM). It'll toss you to winlogon and after about an hour or so it'll give you a BSOD saying END_OF_NT_EVALUATION_PERIOD. Illegitimate copies don't just shutdown. It changes your wallpaper to black and gives you balloons and windows telling you "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting."
He obviously got a fake one. Why wouldnt he call microsoft and solve it easily? He wants a program that stops the activation/sending information thing. Clearly pirate.
