• Which Matters More? CPU or Graphics Card?

I have some money and I need to know which will make my preformance higher, I got an ATI 4850, and it ran crysis on max pretty well, but would not stop crashing my pc when it got too hot, so i plan on returning it. My current PC's Cpu is very old (E2200) (2.2Ghz) (775 pin) (intel dual) and seems like it would be better if I upgraded to a 3.2Ghz cpu (and a motherboard to support it) , but will that make it run better?
I have an HD4850 (older Diamond 512mb) and I was using an E5200 @ stock clock. Moved up to a Q8400 @ 3.0ghz and my average FPS in any given game went up 50-100fps. I now can hold a steady 200fps in source and I went from 50 to 100 in TF2 (both maxed @ 1600x900). There's no doubt that your CPU is lacking in comparison to your GPU. With a similar setup I noticed HUGE increase in performance, even in games that don't support multithreading (an e8400 would've been a wiser choice if I was gaming primarily).
uhh use CCC to up the fan speed
The GPU will make the biggest difference in games, just so long as the CPU isn't total crap (it's not, but you should try overclocking it as said above).
Turn up the fan speed for your GPU and upgrade the CPU.
uhh use ccc to up the fan speed
ccc?

catalyst control center, comes with the ATI drivers for your video card.
Why not just invest in after-market cooling?
Why not just invest in after-market cooling?
Because he probably doesn't need that. He just needs to turn up his fan speed.
ccc?
Catalyst Control Center. For ATI cards.
Older CPUs will bottleneck new GPUs, so it's best recommended to get a CPU first.
uhh use CCC to up the fan speed
i cant get catalyst control center to install on w7 build 7100...
i cant get catalyst control center to install on w7 build 7100...
>crysis crashes >beta OS >I think it is hardware I would try BUYING windows 7 HP first
I have gotten the ccc to turn on, and the card has no problem when just idleing but is there any type of Cooling kit I can get from say best buy or fry's electronics? I would have no problem spending between 50-100 dollars to get the card to stay cool and reliable EDIT: When just idling around and using the internet it steadly goes from 47C to about 52C (and rising), Using the Catalyst Control Center it says the fan is at 0$ speed and even when tring to get it to activate using the manual overide it will not activate.

Mine's currently doing 52c If you could provide us with a link to your pc model, we could give you a link to a better processor.

The only prosessors that my motherboard can support are not any better (Lga 775) (Max FSB 800)
