Also, while people keep trying to be funny by pretending to be excited about the game. Let me put it this way, people who had the first game got Railworks 2 for free and now they are giving us Railworks 3 for free in September. Do you see any other developer do that? I think not.
The DLC is a fucking joke.
It is for people who usually are ready to spend a ton of money on train models. The DLC costs a fraction of that money. Remodeling a train down to the very buttons on the control panels isn't exactly a five minute job. It is for train enthusiasts and while I may not be one. I am still enjoyed the game without spending a single plenny on DLC.

[editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] all i want to do is to crash some trains, why won't it let me do it
they are giving us Railworks 3 for free in September. Do you see any other developer do that?
It's a simple update. Ok, it has got a new game engine and looks much better but it's definately not a new product. There's no need to rename "Rail Simulator" to "Railworks", "Railworks" to "Railworks 2 Train Simulator" and "Railworks 2 Train Simulator" to "RailWorks 3: Train Simulator 2012" (with the same font as the Trainz series). That's only confusing and makes other people believe "Oh look, we're getting a free game!". And since it's not a new game there's no need to charge money for it. They get enough money with their (in comparsion to what you get with the main game) overpriced DLCs (and the DLCs of other creators). Just because there's Auran (Trainz series), being a negative example, doesn't mean doing nothing bad makes you a prime example.
DLC motherfuckery aside, is this an actual honest down-to-earth decent game?
Apart from the lack of free, user created content, the lack of scenarios where you load and unload different goods than people, no control of multiple trains at once (like in Trainz) and route creation not being as easy and fast as in Trainz, I'd say it's the best out there in every other aspect. With the coming update it'll get some nice additions inclusive dynamic shadows and (finally) working headlights: I especially like the physics. The trains do not feel like simple objects following a spline, their wheels can leave the track and get back on again (like when being too fast in a curve or taking a tight curve with a train not made for such low radiuses) and you can get away with it. I'd only even consider buying it if you could build up some sort of empire/business and ran money making routes, but as far as I know it's just Point A to Point B blandness
I'd only even consider buying it if you could build up some sort of empire/business and ran money making routes, but as far as I know it's just Point A to Point B blandness
It's a train simulator, not Transport Tycoon, Chris Sawyers Locomotion, Cities in Motion or Railroad Tycoon.
railworks gets updated more than any valve game that isn't tf2 lol
They should add hats to this game now, what are they waiting for???
Its funny how a freakin' TRAIN SIMULATOR has better graphics than the most recent Call Of Duty.
DLC motherfuckery aside, is this an actual honest down-to-earth decent game?
Yes, yes it is. There is even more modding capabilities than most modern games. You can make your own tracks easily and just mess around. Here is something silly that I did. Also, I haven't checked user created content but should it not be rather easy to share with the tools provided?
railworks gets updated more than any valve game that isn't tf2 lol
"Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Updates Released"
Also, I haven't checked user created content but should it not be rather easy to share with the tools provided?
It should, still it doesn't seem to. There isn't much content, it's very very far from what MSTS or Trainz has to offer. And it looks like anybody can sell his shit. "Why give it for free when you can charge $15 for it?" is probably a thought in every creator's mind.

It is for train enthusiasts and not the average gamer. Yes it is expensive but I would rather buy that compared to paying hundreds of dollars for a small scale model.
What happened when you hit the bottom of the pit? It's not in the video..
Sadly the game just prompted me to restart before hitting it.

This little thing here costs 110 € at an auction right now Point being: enthusiasts buy it, much like some buy expensive cars, guitars etc
I've been a rail enthusiast for years, I've played MSTS and Trainz, enjoyed both but Railworks is just a joke.
