my steam games wont work on windows 7! they are not compatible with it. i put the game and steam in compatible mode and still no dice. what do i do? i have windows 7 enterprise 32 bit.
What games won't work?
orange box and garrysmod. (half life series, portal, team fortress 2, garrysmod.)
Windows 7 here, running all source engine games flawlessly under no compatibility mode. Did they run in XP? Is this a new computer? What error do you get?
Are you an admin on win7 and do you have uac/winfirewall enabled? Disable them both if you do and try setting yourself as an admin.
had xp, not 2000. it is not a new computer. i click on game, it say preparing to launch whatever, then that window goes away like it should, nothing happens. i forgot to mention, i also have cs:s.

i am admin, i allowed steam on windows firewall, and i dont really know waht uac is. enlighten me.

I assume AGP version, you need to look around the internet for some community made drivers(Not sure the "technical" term...)

And don't run Steam in compatibility mode, it can make stuff act weird.
Add -dxlevel 81 to launch options on the games. It fixed it for me
thx dudes. it works now.
All games work with 64U here, only blazing angels which has XP only capability doesn't work.
-dx9 finally got HL1 working for me. Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit here.
