I don't understand. I've updated everything I can think of to make it run smoothly. I've been playing a lot of Starcraft 2 UMS lately (hero wars, marine arena, etc.) and I'm getting 0-1fps. Even on the worst laptops, it would play better than mine. Please help.
Specs would help quite a bit. Also, have you updated your drivers recently?
Specs would help quite a bit. Also, have you updated your drivers recently?
What do you need? Dxdiag? Speccy? Some other dump? Also, I've updated sound drivers, graphic card drivers, intel rapid storage drivers and chipset drivers. I can show the latest versions and what not in case it's not actually the latest or it was a buggy install.
Give us a Speccy screenshot at least. Chances are your laptop just isn't powerful enough. SC2 is kind of a demanding game and requires a lot of processing power.

Well, that's more than powerful enough for SC2 if I'm not mistaken, however it does seem to be running a bit hot. Supposedly components are tested to work at above 80 C, but my last laptop had major issues constantly due to running at 65 C or higher.

I just wanted a super fast, smooth machine. I even got them to remove the stock thermal paste, do sanding on the heat sinks and apply the IC Diamond compound.
Pull up Disk Defragmenter and Analyze.
Pull up Disk Defragmenter and Analyze.
Give me a minute please. Will edit with results.
Well, that's obviously not the problem. Hmmm...post your Windows Experience Index. [t]http://i.imgur.com/K9FhE.png[/t]

A lot of times (I've found) when you're dealing with an ATI card, you have to completely uninstall the drivers, then reinstall the drivers before the new drivers will install correctly. It's very irritating, and requires you to uninstall, restart, run a registry cleaner, restart, then install the newer drivers for the card. You may want to try this. It's entirely possible that you have a bad graphics driver, considering the specs for your machine indicate that you should be running SCII just fine, and that you are running without the Aero interface, although yes, you may have elected to do that.

Uninstalled previous drivers, reboot, Driver Sweeper, reboot, install, reboot...you get the picture.
I honeslty just think the heat is causing this cause my old HP laptop ( and they are prone to heat up ) used to play BFBC2 on mid settings and that sucker got hot and performance would drop, After getting a cooling pad with like 4 fans on it that solved my problem and it ran cooler and no parts got hot. I may be wrong but you could at least spend the $30 and try it.
Those temps are nothing to a laptop. If you can't find the reason for the slowdown then just do a windows reinstall.

Your last resort is to send it in for repair. Reinstalling is just before. This is why you should never buy a laptop with this much power in it. It'll kill it's self.

I can't spare sending it in to the MSI center either; I need it for school.
Is something taking up alot of CPU/RAM, and run a scan with Avast and Malwarebytes just in case.
Is something taking up alot of CPU/RAM, and run a scan with Avast and Malwarebytes just in case.
Nothing that I see in particular. (I might buy some better laptop RAM just because it's so fucking cheap. Will double from 4 to 8, but even now it's only at 52% and that's because Firefox has been open for a while.) An Avira scan not too long ago didn't reveal anything. I uninstalled MBAM because the 2 programs together might have caused compatibility issues.
Check your temp while playing the game, it could be its getting into the 90's temprature wise and my laptop starts to lag if it gets that hot so i just take a 10 min break from gaming.

I'll launch the game, login, join let's say marine arena and it will start off at like 30fps and trickle down to 0-1fps. Some other game might start at 60fps for a bit, go down to 1fps and have moments of 15-24fps throughout the game for like 10-20 seconds.
Download furmark and HW monitor and check your temps then.
I'm going to try re-updating the firmware in case anything bugged up. Is it safe to update the BIOS, VBIOS and NB EC on the GX640 by clicking the batch files and updating like a regular driver from the desktop.
Holy mother of Mary I think I found my problem. [editline]18th November 2011[/editline] Hit 100C on the CPU and Mobo, then went to:
