My friend is looking to update his processor and graphics card for 250 dollars. Currently he has the A8-5500 @ 3.7Ghz and the integrated graphics. Suggestions? He said 250 is his max.
Maybe, though he'd have to make sure he has a good enough psu. Honestly that's just not worth it. If I were him, I'd grab that 270x for now, and upgrade to an i3 later down the road
Performance is pretty similar in most games http://pclab.pl/art54829-4.html Though I agree I would wait till he has at least $50 more for an i3
His graphics card interface is a v2.x is that okay since the 270X is v3.x?
Yeah, it is similar, which is why it would be a waste to sidegrade to it. [editline]15th June 2014[/editline] Yeah. The r9 270x comes nowhere close to oversaturating the PCIe 2.0 bus.
I meant between the i3 and Pentium. Idk about the a8
Can he overclock?
If only intel didn't fix the overclocking thing with some MSI boards, I'd suggest a b85 and the unlocked pentium. Seems 4.5ghz is obtainable on the stock cooler
