Yep, figured the sudden spike in global attention was overwhelming, it's not surprising. Sounds like he's thinking of ways to approach/capitalize on it though, good for him!
there is a rumor that the vietnamese government had some corrupt people that wanted to take money from him or something
Some people seem to think it was because of all they hate he got over twitter when he revealed how much money the game made him.
Forgive me for asking, but how did the game make him any money? It seems very minimalistic and the game itself is free.
Ad revenue

Advertisements. I don't see why he didn't just pull the ads off the game if money was the issue.

50g a day and he still needs to find a way capitalize on it?
Should have just let it keep going to bankroll anything he does in the future, perhaps just removing all visible association with it.
Then it would kinda be like Notch, but without shittones of people waiting for him to fulfill promises.
Advertisements. I don't see why he didn't just pull the ads off the game if money was the issue.
Im pretty sure hes just looking for a way to capitalize on it more, now that hes pulled it, its gonna create such a demand, that when he comes back and puts it online, he'll be flooded with much more revenue.
vietnams one of those emergent countries, you've got quite a lot of foreign investment going in but fuck alls coming out. this guy could have been riding on his own empire, nothing to do with corrupt government, more like not know what to do with his money

there's like 50 clones of it on the appstore
To be honest, there is very little we know about him or his situation. Countless people have outright given (albeit probably fake) death threats relating to the game and him taking it down. Everyone on earth has a limit to the kind of feedback they can take. This isn't just "People don't like it so he's pussing out" he gets hundreds or thousands of mentions on twitter each day. He's an independant developer who probably is not used to this.
We don't know if it actually was due to the social retaliation, money, legal, or something else. People will continue to speculate though.
Ironpants is better anyway.

Now people are selling iPhones with the game installed for thousands of dollars.
50g a day and he still needs to find a way capitalize on it?
Yes, he does. The ad revenue was entirely passive, he never seemed to consider the possibility that his work could suddenly explode in popularity.
If he's going to earn a solid dollar out of his efforts, he might as well be prepared and willingly act on it.

Still on my phone.
Actually, still on everyone's phone.
ACTUALLY, you could just get it from a non-appstore if you have a jailbroken iPhone or an Android device and 5 minutes.

Is this a real thing?
I should interject the news I just stated into that conversation, then.
If you have it installed on android you can find the apk in some folder.

don't want to ruin the party, but what if someone downloads the game from 3rd party sources and puts the device on a auction?
