When will we have people thinking Minecraft causes autism?
I know, its Sonic the Hedgehog that actually causes it.
I like how they cram in the last section of the article, with the 'less thinking grey matter' research.
Because they're kids. Kids tend to have a narrow scope of what interests them.

That's why you should never play video games you liked in the past, they tend to not be so interesting as your memory wants you to believe.

I bought morrowind on steam thinking, hey, I loved it as a kid.
hey, this isn't too bad I guess, maybe it'll get better if I play it a little more
maybe I'm just not focusing enough on the game and need a few tiny mods
maybe I should just uninstall it and try again later
maybe I just need to get into the mood
until finally I realized, maybe it wasn't as good as it thought it was. There goes 10$
My cousin used to be a Minecraft obsessed kid, now he's just a regular teenager who's into football, Call of Duty, and Destiny. Kids being obsessed with Minecraft is fine, it's just a phase.
As for why they watch videos, well that because these days it's a lot harder for them to play with their friends. Often their best friends will be school mates so once they go home there isn't much to do, videos of Pewdiepie or whoever are basically surrogate friends who kids use to entertain them until they can see their real friends at school, or play with them online.
Minecraft isn't anything to worry about.
Comic books aren't anything to worry about.
Rock and Roll isn't anything to worry about.
Minecraft is popular because it's accessible, easy to understand, and has a decent amount of depth to it.
It's probably because they think the Minecraft based Youtubers that make these videos are ultra hip and cool and that watching them will make themselves cool.
40 million videos of Minecraft on Youtube. I remember back in the day having problem finding Minecraft videos I hadn't seen yet. :v: Nobody expected it to blow up the way it did.
because they're funny?
either that or they make really crazy stuff

also the official version of minecraft is boring, devoid of content, and dry as shit, modded minecraft is really fun to muck about in
Yeah Minecraft's playability is drastically increased by mods such as Industrialcraft, buildcraft, redpower, railcraft, and ETC.
I can't stand playing Minecrafts without mods.
