Modding in general. That's how people have hosted custom maps.
.vpk is just the packing format Source uses to extract data (like a .zip file). That's where all the files for the game are.
I assume the competetive advantage comes from people altering special effects and models to be easier to see, remove invisibility, smoke, etc or something along those lines.
I don't mind because it prevents shit like this

Wait, does this disable the fog too ? If not, theres not much advantage doing that, imo
It doesn't disable fog, whoever took that picture was using -allvision
It just makes it easier to find all the little hiding spots in the trees.
but now you have -enable_addons
So is sv_pure not working anymore so that override_vpk is disabled? Or this is just valve enabling sv_pure?
