Got no ironsights or optics either.
Budget cuts
Budget cuts
Not bloody likely
Is playing video games really going to encourage someone to join the army?
Missin' yer mag there, buddy.
Highest speed, no drag. Only need one in the chamber. (Ignore the weighty pack gear. It's just spare surgical supplies for all the operations he's operating.)
It's funny because AA2 was great and yet it had so little in the way of propaganda. Hell, it didn't force much down your throat, if it was just on your computer you probably would think it was just a regular game.
Is playing video games really going to encourage someone to join the army?
You have no idea how many people I've met at my local Marines recruitment center who wanted to join up due to Call of Duty. :v:
Operators operating operationally I suppose
You have no idea how many people I've met at my local Marines recruitment center who wanted to join up due to Call of Duty. :v:
It was so bad, the military was forced to change their basic training regiment because they received way too many applicants who were gung-ho on games like CoD and Battlefield. They could barely learn discipline, because they were too focused on getting into the battlefield and living a CoD-like experience while serving. I lost the source for that; iirc it was from an interview on NPR with some of the US brass in charge of basic training. It was very scary; one of the first times that the US military had to change training in decades.

America's Army: Special Forces was awesome, the multiplayer was tense and a lot of fun (although you could only play as the US unless you were on a modded server) and the training missions, which were the meat of the game, were very good in demonstrating what army training is like to players (they too were pretty fun). But man... FUCK AA3, like 4 training missions, unoptimized as shit, unpopulated multiplayer BECAUSE it was so shit, all the guns felt awful to use and GREY GREEN BROWN. Please oh please be good, please!
You have no idea how many people I've met at my local Marines recruitment center who wanted to join up due to Call of Duty. :v:
What do you say to them?
Missin' yer mag there, buddy.
gun control, man. first 10 round magazines, now only 3.
What do you say to them?
"Welcome aboard General."
What do you say to them?
Same as what the recruiters tell them. "Real war is nothing like a video game."
I somehow got into a closed beta of this and played it for about an hour, it's pretty much like every other online military fps out there
AA 2.8.X was so fucking good. Literally some of the best multiplayer gameplay I've experienced, had a very nice tactical focus to it. Loved that every single map (and there were tons) were focused on you doing actual objectives instead of CoD where you just kill or BF where you just stand in a spot. There's never been any multiplayer game or game-mode that I know of that had the kind of "realistic" yet "tactical" multiplayer gameplay that AA2.8.X had, that was also not over the top in presentation (thats what I love about AA2, it doesn't go crazy on the "DRAMA" and the feeling of being a CoD clone, which makes it feel more legitimate). They just need to bring that back. Exactly how it was, maybe with better visuals. Sadly I don't think it will ever happen since the original team that made it is completely gone and they've shut down the servers for the whole thing, despite the huge amount of content and custom maps. Now all we're gonna get is crappy CoD clones that are over-dramatized.
I really think that ArmA 3 has the potential to recreate some of those AA 2.8.X feels but we'd need someone to actually make the missions for it. Maybe I should do that FARP raid mission.
I somehow got into a closed beta of this and played it for about an hour, it's pretty much like every other online military fps out there
So it isn't shit like AA3? I remember going "OH BOY THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE SO GOOD WHEN IT LAUNCHES" and the pre-load didn't even work. And then the tutorial was broken. And then Punkbuster kicked me off every server every 5 min.
Is playing video games really going to encourage someone to join the army?
Why do all the people I went to highschool with that religiously played CoD and CoD only all joining the military? Shit I don't know.
Idiots [editline]14th August 2013[/editline] http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120627201352AAoD7WP http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110424002252AAtZ7ek These are probably fake but I wouldn't be too surprised
Funny when they go in thinking they get to shoot guns all day and do badass things when really they may only be unloading cargo off an airplane for 2 years
