I don't think it would be very hard to implement a very basic notes system in source, even with pure hammer I/O although this probably wouldn't be very optimized
The demo honestly wasn't that great. I'm all for the Silent Hill atmosphere, and they did a good job imo. But the deliberate choice to not have any monsters, nothing threatening at all, really ruins it. The real magic of the enemies in Silent Hill was that they were creepy as hell, the Mannequin (the spider-like human leg monster) and the Twin Victim being just two of many. Knowing that they exist and that they will chase you down and beat you to death made for intense interaction. The combat in Silent Hill has never been good so it being gone doesn't hurt anything; but no combat at all doesn't mean you can't have enemies either. It's that failure that really ruined what Alchemilla set out to achieve. You'll learn pretty quickly that you have nothing to be scared of, at which point there is no reason to continue playing.
They dident leave no combat becouse they wanted to, they planned to have Quests, NPCS and Combat (with various modifications ) but they couldnt find any coders to work with

Underhell has inventory. Whats stopping me from clicking a note in my inventory to then put an overlay of the note image on my entire screen? Thats like extremely basic shit right their and absolutely no reason it wouldnt be optimized. It would be loading a single overlay picture across your screen. Hell you could have a note on a table, make an invisible button, have it so when you use E on the note it puts an overlay of the note on your screen. I know thats possible 100% and requires nothing but base hammer. Seems like the modders were just lazy, especially considering the fact the game has no enemies which completely defeats any reason to play a horror game. The novelty of a good atmosphere cant hold an entire game on its own. Most of the scares were from fucking random monsters in SH anyways.

You just need a strong atmosphere and suspenseful moments, a lot of memorable frightening moments in silent hill weren't monster related at all I still doubt this game accomplishes much like an overall silent hill game (where the main character is hugely important to how the game plays), but it looks to have nailed the atmosphere of the town pretty well, which has always been tricky in the series since they moved to more linear segments
tbh i think its mainly because they'd have to animate it and it would be a pain in the ass or they could be lazy and use the default hl2 zombie animations but those are the worst
I'd prefer no monsters to zombie model replacers, honestly. It would feel so cheap and amateur to do that.
I'm pretty sure I read they had a coder, but he leave, so they had to cut all the unfinished stuff.
If you really want to really if there are monsters in this mod: [sp]There are. But so far there aren't threatening to me, but I've seen them. And they look fucking horrifying.[/sp]
It could be done, yeah, but it'd be hell on the mappers.
I dont see how thats hell on the mappers. Theirs an entire entity for putting a picture overlay over your screen which you can attach to any button or trigger. Its stock with source hammer. Its actually insanely easy and quick.
